Langtang, with over 70 glaciers is the valley of glaciers. The best hidden destination of Nepal, Langtang valley is 19 miles north of Kathmandu. Although close to the city, its rich ecosystem with the wild scenery is ethereal. Langtang Valley Trek incorporates the Himalaya’s beauty, unique bio-diversity and Tibetan lifestyle. The crystalline lakes and the tranquil glaciers along the trails are a delight. The views of Langtang Lirung, Langtang RI, Kimshung, Tserko RI and Dorje Lakpa are amazing.
What is the best season to do the Langtang Valley Trek?
The best season to do this trek is March through May during spring and September through October during autumn. Remember, choosing the right season is important for the panorama and comfortable trails.
Day 01 – Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu
Our team is ecstatic to welcome you to Nepal. At any time and any day of your arrival, you will be greeted by one of our representatives at the airport. You will be taken to a nice hotel where our team member will guide you about the trek and prepare you for the next day. All the vital information and plans will be discussed and shared. The first day you will spend in Kathmandu.
Day 02 – Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi (1462m/4795ft) Duration: 7 Hours
The trek to Langtang valley begins with Kathmandu-Syabru Bensi bus ride. The drive takes about half a day, passing through the Trishuli River. Then moving to Dhunche where you can view the Ganesh Himal and the green landscape. You can also see the terraces carved by men for cultivation. The roads get rocky in Dhunche which will continue till we reach Syabru Bensi. As you reach Syabru Bensi the change in terrains at Syabru Bensi will be visible with hills peeping out which you can enjoy while relaxing.

Day 03 – Syabru Bensi to Lama Hotel (2500m/8200ft) Duration: 5 Hours
After breakfast you will resume your 5 hours hike across the trail of Bhote Koshi River and Langtang Khola making your way across the suspension bridges. We will trek past the landslide zone towards Bamboo (1960m) and then towards Ramche (2400m). From here, the forests and beautiful waterfalls accompany us along the way. There is a high chance we could see animals like Red Panda and Rhesus Monkey. Following the path we arrive at Gumanechok, a hillside settlement where Lama Hotel resides. We will stay overnight here.

Day 04 – Lama Hotel to Mundu via Langtang Village (2470m/8103ft) Duration: 6 Hours
Making our way from the Lama Hotel, we trek for approx.6 hours above the Langtang Khola. We will be welcomed by the Langtang Lirung (7,227m). Taking the steep path we arrive at Ghoda Tabela (3000m), a farmhouse of horses and donkeys used for transportation purposes. Continuing our trek we walk through the lodges and arrive at a checkpoint. We arrive at grassland where we can see Yaks grazing and resting. Moving on we see Tamang households, mills and Buddhist flags and prayer wheels. After we make our way from the stream we arrive at Langtang Village (3500m). We further hike to Mundu where we will spend our night alongside the mountains and fresh air.

Day 05 – Langtang Village to Kyanjing Gompa (3798m/12495ft) Duration: 4 Hours
After having breakfast in the village, we will trek to Sindum and then make our way towards Yamphu. We will cross several bridges and the most prominent one being the bridge over Laja Khola River which is a result of glacial ice melt. Passing the river, we will trek up from where we can see the beautiful Kyanjin Gompa. Here, we can observe the ice dramatically flowing through the Langtang Lirung. We will be surrounded by mountains along the way to Kyanjin Gompa making our trek worthwhile.

Day 06 – Day Hike to the Chorkari Ri (5050m/16564ft) Duration: 7 Hours
This day is the major highlight of the Langtang Valley Trek as we will spend a relaxing day touring the traditional Kyanjin Gompa. The day will be spent exploring the monastery and visiting the cheese factory where we can taste the delicious Yak cheese. Then we will resume our hike for 7 hours towards the highest point Chorkari RI (5050m). We get to see the amazing Langtang peak and get mesmerized in its ethereal beauty. Moving on we will walk back to the village where we will spend the night.

Day 07 – Kyanjin Gompa- Lama Hotel
Today, we will trek down back 5-6 hours to the Lama hotel. It will be a 5-6 hours trek which will surprise us with its ease as the trail descends downhill. The trek which took us 2 days will be completed in just a day. However, the trail does get steep so we need to be careful. Seriousness aside, we ought to stop by the Langtang village just to relive its beauty.

Day 08 – Lama Hotel to Syabru Bensi
We will make our way from Lama Hotel to Syabru Bensi. This will be another easy trek downwards of about 5-6 hours. However, make sure to enjoy the view along the way.

Day 09 – Drive Back to Kathmandu
We will make our way back to Kathmandu. Leaving behind the serenity of Syabru Bensi we will return back to where our journey began from and reminisce the trekking days. Overnight at hotel, breakfast and Lunch included.
Day 10 – Departure
A representative from Nepal Hiking Team shall take you to the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. Hope this trek has been your cherishable memory. We will send you off with hopes to meet again.
